| Subject: Systems: Tiers and Physical Levels Sat Dec 19, 2015 4:55 am | |
| So your friend points his watch at you, which reads your most recent booster shot of nanomachines, and says that you have a 'Physical Level' of 1, and then proceeds to have a laugh. Offended, you point his watch at him (not having one), and read that he's 'Physical Level 4'. Because of your experience with video games and such, you believe you aren't too much weaker than he is, and it leads to a brawl. You're pretty sure that those karate classes you took two years ago might help even though you didn't pay too much mind, but what you didn't know, was that your pal stuck with them to this day even, and you wind up completely unconscious in one blow, zero contest. Why would this happen? According to every game ever, the level difference between 1 and 4 is still enough for you to have had a shot at hitting him at least, or maybe had a chance to defend, but you found yourself at the mercy of your friend's fist. He picks you up a minute later, and begins explaining what just happened. It makes you feel inadequate, and you wish to advance a bit more than you're at. So maybe you can block a punch. Physical Levels are broken into 5 tiers: Civilian Tier (Level 1), Fighter Tier (Martial Tier), Monster Tier, Ascendant Tier (Semi-God), and God Tier. They each have either 5 or 10 Levels each. Civilian Tier"Sensei, can I go home? I'm getting really tired, and I have work tomorrow!"Civilian tier is jokingly referred to as 'Level 1' by anyone who can read it, as the New-Age GoH Watch cannot read a physical level that is below 1 but above 0. This basically ranges everywhere between a newborn baby to a really drunk guy with a chair. Civilian tier characters cannot have martial arts techniques. Civilians level up exponentially quicker than other Tiers, as they are the bottom of the barrel, but there's still some effort involved, generally involving character development, and getting beaten down, a lot. - Civilian Levels:
Civilian Level 1 - Infant "Waaaaah! I got a boo-boo! Waaaaah!"
This is the level of a newborn baby, especially one with a strong grip. At this level, the person is extremely fragile, a single punch worth anything could end them, their immune system isn't up to snuff, and their coordination is lower than is acceptable for anyone. An adult with this level is likely a vegetable, or very close to it, and is incapable of performing daily tasks on their own, and may even need to take medications to survive even further. Unless you are between the ages of 0 and 3 don't be physical level 1 unless you want to RP the struggle.
Civilian Level 2 - Young One "Just scraped my knee, and now I need a bandaid..."
This is the level that covers the widest range, from a standard toddler to a standard young adolescent and everything in between. An adult of this level is either really weak, or really sickly, but likely not both. Because of the overall weakness of this level, it's not recommended to be one of this level, this is the level of the kids who get bullied, and actually cannot do anything about it. However, unlike Civilian level 1, it is wholly viable that a character of this level actually gets better in life at fighting.
Civilian Level 3 - Add-'ult "Bro? Bro. Come at me. Wait! We're not wearing padding? Screw that!"
This is the level of an average adolescent into adulthood, or a martially trained young adolescent. They are normal, totally average in strength and could hold an average-labor job, survive without medications, and don't need assistance with anything in particular, physically speaking. Their punches can hurt normal people, but don't devastate anyone like you see commonly. This level of people bully those kids that get bullied in level 2. This person may have had some martial training from a video they saw on youtube.
Civilian Level 4 - 'Built' or 'Skilled' "Do you even see me? I'm fucking huge! Step outside, scrub!"
At this point we're working with one of two things, a large adult of a heavy-labor job, or a teenager who's had martial arts training. These people are pretty okay at fighting the average person, and can stop a bully from beating on losers, and also bully bullies. These people are the level of people who quit being martial artists in order to become thugs and use their skill or size in order to get what what want. These lot are still not much stronger than an average civilian, and still don't quite register as a full Physical Level.
Civilian Level 5 - Officially Cool "Dude, I'm gonna level with you... you don't want to fight me. You want to fight what you think is me."
This is the level where a character is officially technically on par with a fighter of low levels, with or without training, natural skill or hard work. These people have actually integrated a martial art's core functions into their mindset, and can fight with actual tactics in mind. This level is essentially equivalent to Fighter Level 1 for all system purposes, except they are unable to use techniques. Aesthetically, the only difference is the mindset towards fighting the character has being less about fighting, and more about normal life. A badass can easily succumb to normal life, just like everyone else. Fighter Tier"You have dishonored my family. We must engage in combat!"Known as the Martial Tier, these people are unrealistically skilled at martial arts or fighting in general. Because of this they can pull off actual techniques, and fight with power that transcends human limitations, making them a cut above the martial arts practitioners of the modern day. These are the most frequent competitors in the God of High School Tournament, and also the most common tier for Priests in Nox. Late level fighters tend to physically transcend limitations of the human body, either through the means of secret ancient techniques from the days when humans and demons warred, or by borrowing power from gods themselves. Badass. There are 10 Levels of Fighter Tier called Physical Levels because this tier is the only one that corresponds number for number with the readings on the watch. Leveling up at Fighter tier is considered the 'average' leveling speed. - Fighter Levels:
Fighter Level 1 - Bouncer "I punch people. It's what I do."
A fighter of level 1 and a level 5 civilian are only aesthetically different. Since player characters that are fighter level 1 don't exist, the only real comparison would be bouncers at the club, or a standard security guard for a wealthy dude. They can have rather weak techniques, as their job does entail hitting people, but the only aesthetic difference is that these people have embraced their talent for combat to make a living off of it. Not uncommon for the fighter tier.
Fighter Level 2 - Tough Guy "I'm a big kid now~♪"
Officially the starting point for a player character who starts in the fighter tier (unless they go through the assache of the long application). This level is where a person applies flashy techniques in actual combat scenarios for the sake of effectively dealing with opponents. They can easily handle multiple opponents. Often times this is the level of martial arts fanatics who spar regularly, and hone their skills in their free time, as well as particularly large and talented laborers. Leveling up from Fighter Level 1 or Civilian Level 5 winds you up at this level.
Fighter Level 3 - Tougher Guy "I lift. Period."
This is where talent reaches its maximum output of power, where next to no training can still even be remotely viable. Known for performing cool acts of skill, this is the level where people don't choreograph their fights anymore, they've already planned it out. Exceeding this level without a martial art is considered impressive, and is usually where a person actually picks up on what their style is. On the other hand, a martial artist who's achieving this level is considered a black belt tier fighter, and likely has mastered a move or so that defies what civilians may dictate as possible.
Fighter Level 4 - Tougher than Tough "I'm seriously considering becoming a model when this tournament's over. Seriously, check out these abs I got."
This is the level where fighters are able to perform feats that otherwise defeats the purpose of anatomy classes. Their bodies are toned to the point of confusing scientists, and their skills are hard to explain with anything other than magic. They can masterfully execute their martial arts and fight without a problem with other seasoned combatants. They are considered don-tier fighters, can easily combat multiple opponents as if they are dealing with one, and practically live in a different reality from Civilians, their sense of time being compressed as soon as there is danger to detect, instincts like a demon. They are likely to have a secret technique at their disposal, developed and trusted to them by their master.
Fighter Level 5 - Getting Real "If I tweak my fist just a bit further, it could empower the technique, but would leave me wide open. Perhaps I should rework the footing."
No more games. The fighter has begun to develop their own brand of their martial art, and now begin working on their own variants of their moves. They work on a whole new level than they used to, they can see the faults in their own techniques, start closing holes once vital to beating them, and even develop further into their master's moves. Those that cannot start that kind of path could achieve this level by attaining assistance from a god, and attaining magical powers in the place of where they need to develop, and unlocking Borrowed Power.
Fighter Level 6 - Killer "A real winner is decided in an instant. The fight before it doesn't matter."
Fights are now getting pretty good. People who achieve this level are capable of ending fights even on their own level with single moves, but they are now capable of defending against similarly devastating moves. This is right around where people in movies are finished even being cool, Bruce Lee and similar tier fighters being exactly this level. It starts requiring a keen eye to keep up, or the strength is too overwhelming for most. Some at this level will handicap themselves to make a fight more difficult for themselves. While they are not anywhere even remotely close to unbeatable at this level, their skills and power are both capable enough to win a fight in single, decisive blows. Their endurance matches suit, so there's generally a chance they can tank the blow.
Fighter Level 7 - Awesome "Well, I give up. This guy just hit me with my own air. He wins."
When you are getting supernatural, you are getting to this level. More full mastery over your martial art's secret techniques, developing deadly techniques to harm your foes heinously. Aiming to specifically defeat an enemy of your style, specifically countering techniques. Developing your bond with your Borrowed Power to allow for a more freely manipulated power. At this level, people are slinging what looks like magic around, regardless of Borrowed Power. This is the level where the boundaries between human and monster are becoming thinned.
Fighter Level 8 - Super "Is that... a dragon?"
A person who gets better at martial arts will eventually transcend the ability to comprehend the logic with modern science. Not enough people become this level and just let science try to understand them. No, this is the point where even trained soldiers, are but thugs in the face of their skill. Their techniques appear to be monsters, the Borrowed Powers follow suit. These people are not normal, and you probably shouldn't treat them as such in a fight. Actually, it would be best to not fight them at all, but in this case, very few can actually handle in the realm of humans. A person of this tier might give a judge a run for their money. You know... if they're lucky.
Fighter Level 9 - Powerful "If that guy attacks, we're sending in the nuclear missiles."
Well you've done it. You've just kicked a fully grown oak in half with one sweep. Now that you are here, not much the human world has to offer is capable of handling what you've got. You are monstrous, people fear having to fight you in the tournament, but still some people look at you as simply a person with potential. Is there something more? Perhaps, but you're still freaking terrifying. Your average use of a technique requires that they replace the ring and put up barriers. You need to worry about the collateral damage you'll be causing if you get any stronger...
Fighter Level 10 - God? "This is it boys. It was a pleasure fighting alongside you today."
You've finally become someone who might be capable of reaching the God Tier. At least thats what a human sees. Your attacks collide with warping impact, your shockwaves visibly alter the world around you. Your Borrowed Power wishes it could meet you in person, and even the judges grow to respect you. Beware though, this is not the highest level, for a character of this level is hardly able to be classified from a character of Monster Tier Level 1. Monster Tier"Good god, it's not of this world."This tier doesn't have a nickname. It is literally what it is. In order to survive around the Sage Realm (that which is between the realm of the Humans and the realm of the Gods) one must be of this tier at the very least. A lot of the time they can get along with civilian tier people, but if ever a fight broke loose their strength is far too superior be even fought by most fighters. This is the tier the majority of judges and bishops are, and their combat skills are inhuman by many means. Often they pick up on martial arts so quickly that they can master one within weeks, or their talent is actually capable of defeating even the most iconic of fighter tier combatants. As such there are 5 Levels of the Monster Tier. Advancement along this path is difficult to measure, both fast and slow at the same time, and also generally requires immense effort, training, and a lot of times, plot interference. - Sage Realm:
The sage realm is a land where excessive amounts of spiritual energy gathers and condenses into a planet around the size of earth's moon. It is lush, full of life and grants life to powerful beings known as Monsters. All monsters are sapient, though not all have humanoid forms. This spiritual energy is so powerful and condensed that the massive sum of collateral damage that is done to it, can be fixed in a matter of weeks just by the natural flow of energy. Erected are several cities, alight with activity from civilized monsters, along with many natural reservations for the more animal-like monsters.
Physical Specialists are known as Monks and Borrowed Power Users are known as Mages.
- Monster Levels:
Monster Level 1 - Pupling "Rawr~"
Monster tier's first level is actually difficult to distinguish from a level 10 fighter. The only real difference is in the fact that starting with monster tier's first level requires being a Monster character, of which none are capable of being made. Borrowed Powers are more open with their users, and inhabit the Sage Realm so that they can meet in person. This level is automatically attained by eating and surviving the sage pill (which requires it being washed down with the tears of a water spirit, or being eaten by a practiced sage). It may also be attained by a level 10 Fighter entering the Sage Realm through the gates. The level detector would read this level as somewhere between 10 and 19.
Monster Level 2 - Beast "Grr... You jerks are about to get fucked up."
Read the quote, because that is pretty much legitimately what is going down. The physical feats that can be performed at this level break logical stopping points. A slash from a blade that cuts three mountains down is not uncommon and neither is being merely grazed from such a slash. At this level a single blow would likely end a lesser fighter, and thusly fighter tier combatants are negligible foes. People at this level are not invincible, but no man is going to beat them without a great sum of colateral damage. Borrowed Power at this point becomes a devastating weapon, capable of leveling cities. A watch will read this power level between 20 and 29.
Monster Level 3 - Warrior Beast "I'll rrrrrip your flesh! I'll gnash your knees! Feeling scared?"
A monster of this level is well trained even by Sage World standards. Borrowed Power abilities can erect massive structures that make the tallest skyscrapers look like ants, and the physical skills present in everyone at this level can take those structures down in single strokes. Beware those at this level, because a wrong move can even end other beasts, and so can the right move. The watches read a whopping number between 30 and 39, making even the best fighters quake in their boots.
Monster Level 4 - Legendary Beast "Save the nukes. We'll need them for fuel when this is over."
A legendary beast has powers enough to wipe cities off the map, clashing with this kind of foe is grounds for being watched by the gods, if only for a few seconds. At this level, the line between the user's own skill and that of their Borrowed Power becomes extremely blurry, even nonexistent. Warrior kings of legend would not attempt battle with this kind of fighter. Their very aura gives those around them a taste of the power they hold, baring down over them like a glorious legend before their eyes. A person who witnesses someone at this level and reads them with their watch, will be greeted by a number somewhere between 40 and 49.
Monster Level 5 - Alpha Beast "Save the n-" *squelch* This level is nigh indistinguishable from the power held by the lower tier gods. Proper limiters should be put into place before these people simply get too out of control. A single flex of their mucles can disturb the air greatly, shattering windows for blocks, and those who use their Borrowed Power may become feared by other Borrowed Powers, while their own Borrowed Powers ascend to great heights that prods against the territory of the gods. It is scary to even think of this level, but it only reads... 50.
Ascendant Tier"Quiver, mortals, for my very footsteps leave an impression in fate itself!"Otherwise known as Semi-God, people of this tier are a cut above the heroes of legend. Personally capable of feats, that heroes are reknown for as a part of their simple day to day life. Their physical level is comparitively immeasureable and the only people worthy of their full strength are destined for greater things anyways. Ascendant tier fighters seal their full power so as to not break reality with their very steps. Why these people don't walk the heavens is one of the greatest mysteries, and the reason why the God of High School tournament is a thing. Training at this level is in fact so difficult to do, that almost everyone who reaches this tier will not progress to the next step up, as releasing one's full power will reduce them to the first level. There are, regardless of this, 10 levels of growth. - Ascendant Levels:
Ascendant Level 1 - Recently Sealed Up "Don't make me angry; you wouldn't like me when I'm angry."
Ascendant tier fighters are unable to be measured in power for two reasons. The first reason is that the scale on the watches only goes up to level 50, and the second reason is that the average Ascendant tier person has a seal placed upon themselves, or purposely has mastered something that holds them back. Whether it be through discipline or magical means, the Ascendant can live their life without worries that they'll break a city block by accidentally stepping too hard. When someone is sealed up a watch will read them as ???. That is the primary difference between Ascendant Level 1 and Monster Level 5, civility. Those who don't seal themselves may never achieve the ascendant tier.
Ascendant Level 2 - Holding Back
"Kaaaaaameeeehaaaaaaameeee...."
At this level, the Ascendant's seal is now holding back an increased level of power. Their sealed power is building up, while they are only using powers fathomable by the masses. At this point their power is only gently increased, and requires one full thread of not unleashing one's full power to achieve this level.
Ascendant Level 3 - Raised Levy "Flicking Elephants across the city since... Now."
An Ascendant of this level may well be scarier to think about than they are to fight. Small countries are in danger when someone of this level releases their full strength, and that isn't including what they can actually do. Their flooding strength is overwhelming and people in the area will run away. Borrowed Power powers are expand to more godly territory's and things that it couldn't innately do before. This level requires the user be sealed up for 3 full threads.
Ascendant Level 4 - The Breaker "Someone play the curbstomp song! Now!"
This level of power is roughly where the best Judges and Bishops are located power wise. Most often a judge or bishop needs permission to let loose, as the resulting damage can kill innocents and total buildings. The costs are quite high, so it goes without saying this level of power shouldn't be unleashed without the situation breaking the Godzilla threshold. In order to achieve this level, they must remain sealed up for 6 threads.
Ascendant Level 5 - Demigod "I AM the Godzilla Threshold!"
This it roughly the level where you can legitimately bust out the nuclear warheads. It probably won't help though. At this point, someone releasing their full power with this level of power can only be matched by someone else of equal level unleashing this power. The situation could not possibly be made worse at this point, the destruction of the world would be better than letting this kind of power run unchecked. This level of power requires 10 full threads of being sealed up.
Ascendant Level 6 - SOS "Like it or not, I'm all you've got."
An Ascendant of this level is pretty much incapable of releasing their full power without colateral damage resulting, not even for an instant. As such, it is key to keep hold over one's own power, and never release it. The world relies on anyone with this level of power stored up never releasing it unless the moon is about to destroy the world itself. One must be sealed up for 13 full threads to have this level of power contained.
Ascendant Level 7 - Super Saiyan? "-HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"
This level of power is ridiculous, and the seal upon themselves is a bit more leniant, capable of letting them release their strength up to Ascendant Level 3 without breaking the seal's stored up power (though using this will not count that thread as being fully sealed). It is not unlikely that these Ascendants can fly without the aid of a Borrowed Power, and single punches can wipe city blocks at a time without touching anything. Requires 16 full threads of being fully sealed up to achieve.
Ascendant Level 8 - The Storm "Quake in your boots, or bow. I don't care which."
This person is capable of fighting with godly powers all their own, their Borrowed Power is nothing short of a god on its own, and they themselves may hardly need them anymore. Able to release up to Ascendant Level 5 without breaking the seal, these folks walk the line between mortal and force of nature. Requires remaining fully sealed for 20 full threads in order to have this power.
Ascendant Level 9 - The Disaster "Fire shall rain down upon your civilization! Your crops will fail and your water shall turn to blood!"
Now closer to a force of nature than a mortal being, this incredibly small number of beings are universal tier fighters, capable of destroying worlds at a time on accident. Capable of unleashing Ascendant Level 7 without breaking the seal, these few are the most likely to become gods. One must remain sealed for 25 full threads before they may reach this level.
Ascendant Level 10 - Key Unleashed "With only the gods before me, I look forth forlorn, knowing nothing but ants lay behind me."
This level of power essentially makes the character a god. They have immense amounts of power without their Borrowed Power, and because of this, their Borrowed Power forsakes them. They may release up to Ascendant Level 9 without breaking their seal, though they no longer have a Borrowed Power, and must rely on their own power. That standing, their own power becomes fused with that of their Borrowed Power if they had one, and they may become a God themselves at this point, simply by achieving the favor of a God as well.
God TierAt this tier there is but one level. The level of being a god. At this level the character is considered an NPC, and is only allowed to be played in important events or events that involve them directly. Achieving this tier grants the player bragging rights essentially, but their character is too powerful to walk the mortal or sage realms without circumstances requiring they do so. The NPC may be played by either the person who achieved this, or staff members in the case the player is inactive. For achieving this, the player may make any class of character to replace their character, even Keys, and do so with the normal template if they so choose, at any level or tier, and they may advance as they see fit, albeit one level at a time and only once at a time in the case of mid-pvp leveling. Great work, you've earned it. | |
